فیلم «اوپنهایمر» (Oppenheimer) برنده‌ی بزرگ جوایز منتخب منتقدان آمریکا (Critics Choice Awards) 2024 بود. این فیلم سینمایی موفق شد در مجموع هشت جایزه را از آن خود کند. از جمله جایزه بهترین فیلم، بهترین کارگردانی (کریستوفر نولان) و بهترین بازیگر مرد نقش مکمل (رابرت داونی جونیور). فیلم اوپنهایمر در گلدن گلوب 2024 هم موفق شده بود چند جایزه را از آن خود کند.
فیلم «باربی» (Barbie) پس از اوپنهایمر با کسب شش جایزه در مجموع، دیگر فیلم موفق این جوایز بود. بهترین فیلم کمدی و بهترین آهنگ (قطعه‌ی «من فقط کن هستم») از جمله این جوایز بودند.
این مراسم جوایز غیرمنتظره‌ای هم داشت. جایزه بهترین بازیگر زن به «اما استون» (Emma Stone) برای فیلم (طفلکی‌ها) رسید. و «پال جیاماتی» (Paul Giamatti) به عنوان بهترین بازیگر مرد شناخته شد.
در بخش تلویزیون اما غافل‌گیری‌ها بسیار کم‌تر بودند. جایی که مطابق انتظار، سریال‌های «خرس»، «وراثت» و «بیف» بیشترین جایزه‌ها را از آن خود کردند. سریال خرس بهترین سریال کمدی شد، و دو سریال دیگر هم به ترتیب به عنوان بهترین سریال درام و بهترین سریال کوتاه انتخاب شدند.
اجرای این مراسم را «چلسی هندلر» بر عهده داشت. «هریسون فورد» جایزه «یک عمر فعالیت هنری» را دریافت کرد و «آمریکا فررا» با جایزه SeeHer ستوده شد.
