در اولین شب جوایز «امی» امسال موسوم به Creative Art اولین موج برندگان شناخته شدند. سریال «آخرین ما» (The Last of Us) شبکه اچ‌بی‌اُ، برنده‌ی بزرگ این شب از جوایز بود. در کنار آن، سریال‌های «خرس»، «ونزدی»، و «نیلوفر آبی سفید» عناوین موفق دیشب بودند.
سریال آخرین ما موفق به کسب هشت جایزه امی شد. این سریال محبوبیت خود در میان مخاطبان و حالا داوران جشنواره‌ها را ثابت کرده است. سریال خرس (The Bear) شبکه اف‌ایکس (فصل دوم) موفق به کسب چهار جایزه شد. دو سریال یاد شده‌ی دیگر هم هر کدام چهار جایزه به دست آوردند.
نکته: جوایز «امی» در چند شاخه‌ی مختلف با نام‌های مختلف شناخته می‌شود. جوایز هنرهای خلاق بخشی از امی است که پیش از جوایز «پرایم‌تایم» برگزار می‌شود. در این شاخه از امی موفقیت افراد دست‌اندرکار در ساخت سریال و فیلم‌های تلویزیونی در رشته‌های فرعیِ پرایم‌تایم ستوده می‌شود. پرایم‌تایم هفته‌ی آینده برگزار خواهد شد.
جوایزی که آخرین ما برنده شد شامل «بازیگر مهمان در مجموعه‌ی درام تلویزیونی»، «جلوه‌های ویژه» و دیگر بخش‌های فنی بودند.
»جودیث لایت» جایزه بازیگر زن مهمان کمدی را برای سریال «پوکر فیس» دریافت کرد. «سم ریچاردسون» بهترین بازیگر مرد مهمان کمدی را برای سریال «تد لاسو» گرفت.
فیلم تلویزیونی «عجیب: داستان ال یانکویچ» برنده جایزه بهترین فیلم تلویزیونی شد. ال یانکویچ شخصا روی صحنه حاضر شد و این جایزه را دریافت کرد. فصل جوایز امی امسال به دلیل اعتصاب‌های در جریان هالیوود، سه ماه دیرتر برگزار شد.
